Thorson says, Islamic State militants reportedly attacked a checkpoint in the northeastern region of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, Qantara. The attack killed 11 Egyptian soldiers and shows that Wilayat Sinai retains some militant capabilities and may launch a renewed terrorism campaign in the event of a crackdown.
